The Silver Screen Society presents a fundraiser for Hurricane Katrina relief this Friday, Sept. 23, 7:30 pm at Katharine Cornell Theatre. "Schultze Gets the Blues" was filmed in Louisiana and Texas. Tickets are $10 and will benefit the American Red Cross.

"Assisted Living" will be shown at 7:30 pm on Saturday, October 1, also at the Cornell Theatre. The growing trend of assisted living facilities for the elderly is examined through this lighthearted drama. Admission is $6 and $4 for film society members.

Humphreys has opened in a sunny pleasant location, already a favorite with the locals. Landscaping and a patio are in process, promising a very attractive venue for the future. Parking can be difficult while the Woodland Center is being fixed up.

The Unitarian Universalist Society of Martha's Vineyard continues the celebration of the refurbishment of the 1904 Hook and Hastings organ this Sunday, September 25 when Lee Ridgway will present an organ concert at 3 pm. Now the organist at First Parish in Boston, Mr. Ridgway retired as Music Director of First Parish in Lexington. You are all welcome. There will be a reception following the concert.

There are only two more weeks to enjoy the lobster rolls at Grace Church. Friday evenings, 4 to 7 pm.

The annual Miles of Memories Walk will be held Sunday, October 2, to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer's Services of Cape Cod and the Islands. Register at the Tisbury Senior Center, 11 am (508-696-4205). The four-mile walk starts at noon from the Tisbury Senior Center and ends at the Oak Bluffs Senior Center. Prizes are awarded for the most money raised. For more information, call Tom Dresser at 508-693-1050. We all know people who suffer from Alzheimer's Disease. The hot line for Alzheimer's Services is 508-775-5656.

I will not write a column next week. I will be visiting my new granddaughter in Virginia.

Happy anniversary: Laurel and Kevin Olson party on Monday. Connie and Freeman Leonard mark 74 years on October 1. Also celebrating that day are Donna and Ray Frazio as well as Sofya and Sandy Nadelstein. Jane and Chris Chandler celebrate on October 2 as do Lynne and Bob Benson.

Big bunches of birthday balloon wishes go out to Lori Dorsey today. Wish the best on Saturday to Muriel Laverty, Judy Federowicz, Dorothy Madeiros, Kathy Rogers, and Kenny Davey. Happy Birthday to Ashleen Marie Dorsey and Eric B. Davison on Tuesday. Dore Clark parties on Oct. 2 and Peg Elwell on Oct. 5.
